1.Who we are
IATAS is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], registered in [COUNTRY] under number [REGISTRATION NUMBER], registered office [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. "We", "us" and "our" mean that entity.
"You" means the organisation using IATAS to find, assess or contact aviation maintenance professionals, and every individual who accesses the platform on its behalf. "Engineer" means an individual professional with a profile on IATAS.
2.Accepting these terms
By creating a recruiter account, completing an organisation profile, posting a role, or searching engineers, you accept these terms and our Recruiter Privacy Policy.
You confirm you are authorised to bind your organisation. These terms apply to the organisation, not only to you personally, and everyone you give access to is bound by them.
3.What IATAS is — and is not
IATAS gives you a searchable, structured view of aviation maintenance professionals who have chosen to be discoverable, and tools to shortlist, message and track them.
IATAS is not a recruitment agency, a labour supplier, a background-screening provider, a regulatory or certifying body, or a party to any engagement you form with an engineer. We introduce; you hire. Every employment or contracting decision, and everything that follows from it, is yours.
4.Eligibility and organisation verification
Recruiter accounts are for genuine aviation organisations — airlines, MROs, CAMO organisations, OEMs, lessors, training organisations and their in-house hiring teams.
We may ask you to verify your organisation by providing registration documents, an approval certificate, or proof of your authority to hire for it. We may refuse, suspend or remove an account where verification fails or where an organisation appears not to be genuine.
Third-party agencies: if you are a staffing agency, consultancy or intermediary rather than the hiring organisation itself, you must say so when registering and identify the end employer in any role you post. You remain fully bound by clause 7.
5.Accounts and access
Accounts are individual. Do not share credentials, and give access only to people who need it for hiring. You are responsible for everything done through accounts linked to your organisation, including by people who have since left.
Tell us promptly at connect@iatas.in when someone with access leaves, or if you suspect an account has been compromised.
6.Posting roles
- Post only roles that are genuine, currently open, and which you are authorised to fill.
- Describe the role accurately — location, employment type, licence and rating requirements, experience, and the identity of the employer.
- Do not post speculative adverts to harvest candidate details, roles that do not exist, or the same role repeatedly to gain prominence.
- Keep listings current. Close a role when it is filled or withdrawn.
- Do not advertise a role that requires the engineer to pay anything — see clause 7.
7.The no-fee rule
You must never charge an engineer, or ask an engineer to pay any third party, any sum in connection with a role found through IATAS.
This covers, without limitation: placement or introduction fees, "registration" or "processing" charges, visa or immigration costs presented as the engineer's responsibility as a condition of selection, type-rating or training fees required to secure the role, accommodation or transport deposits, and security deposits or bonds payable to you or an associate before employment begins.
It applies whether the payment is requested before, during or after selection, and whether it is described as a fee, deposit, refundable sum or anything else.
Consequence: breach of this clause ends your access immediately and without notice. We may inform affected engineers, and where the conduct appears unlawful we may report it to the relevant authorities. This is the single rule we enforce most strictly, because the exploitation it prevents is the reason IATAS exists.
8.Candidate data: permitted use
Through IATAS you will see personal and professional information about engineers, including their licences, ratings, experience, availability, salary expectations and — once you are in contact — their email address and phone number.
You may use that information solely to assess and contact candidates for roles your organisation is genuinely hiring for, and to manage those candidates through your hiring process.
You must not:
- export, scrape, bulk-download or systematically copy engineer data;
- add engineer data to a separate CRM, applicant-tracking system, spreadsheet or database beyond what your own hiring process genuinely requires;
- sell, licence, share or disclose engineer data to any third party, including group companies, clients or partner agencies, unless the engineer has agreed;
- use engineer data for marketing, training-course sales, newsletters, or any purpose other than the role you contacted them about;
- retain engineer data after it is no longer needed for the hiring process it was collected for;
- use engineer data to train machine-learning or AI models.
We monitor for bulk extraction and may suspend accounts that show extraction patterns.
9.Your responsibilities as a data controller
This clause matters and is often overlooked.
While engineer data sits on IATAS, we are responsible for it. The moment you take it off the platform — printing a profile, copying details into your own system, exporting a shortlist — you become an independent data controller of that copy, with your own obligations under applicable data-protection law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and, where relevant, the UK/EU GDPR.
That means you are responsible for:
- having a lawful basis for holding and using that copy;
- telling candidates how you use their data, through your own privacy notice;
- keeping it secure and confidential;
- responding to candidate requests for access, correction or deletion of your copy — we cannot do this for you;
- deleting it when your hiring purpose ends;
- reporting any breach of it to the relevant authority and affected individuals.
If an engineer deletes their IATAS profile or asks us to remove their data, that removes it from our platform. It does not reach copies already in your systems — acting on those is your obligation, and we will pass such requests on to you where an engineer asks us to.
10.Verification and your due diligence
Some engineer profiles carry a verification marker. It means the account holder supplied documentation that appeared, on reasonable inspection, to correspond to the credential claimed.
It is not a regulatory check. We do not hold live access to civil aviation authority registers. We do not confirm with DGCA, EASA, the FAA, GCAA, the UK CAA, CAAS or any other authority that a licence is currently valid, unrestricted, or of the scope claimed. We do not verify employment history, references, medical fitness, criminal records or right to work.
You must carry out your own verification — directly with the issuing authority and the engineer — before engaging anyone to perform maintenance or issue a certificate of release to service. Treating an IATAS marker as a substitute for that check is a breach of these terms, and any consequence of doing so rests with you.
11.Contacting engineers
- Contact an engineer only about a genuine role you are hiring for.
- Identify yourself and your organisation honestly in first contact.
- No marketing, no course or training sales, no recruitment on behalf of an undisclosed third party.
- Respect a request to stop contacting. Do not contact through another channel after being asked to stop.
- Do not ask for documents you do not need, and never ask an engineer to send payment details.
12.Fair and lawful hiring
You must comply with employment, equality and anti-discrimination law in every jurisdiction you hire into, and must not use IATAS filters or search tools to exclude candidates on any protected basis. Filtering on genuine occupational requirements — licence category, type rating, authority, experience, right to work — is legitimate. Filtering as a proxy for a protected characteristic is not.
13.Charges for the platform
Some features may be free and some charged. Where a charge applies we will set out the amount, what it covers, and the billing, renewal and cancellation terms before you commit.
[RECRUITER PRICING, BILLING, RENEWAL, REFUND AND CANCELLATION TERMS — complete before charging, or state that access is currently free.]
Charges payable to us are entirely separate from clause 7, which prohibits you charging engineers anything, and is not affected by this clause.
14.Prohibited conduct
In addition to anything above, you must not:
- misrepresent your organisation, your authority, or the roles you post;
- create accounts to gain access on behalf of an organisation that has been removed;
- attempt to bypass access controls, rate limits or authentication, or access data that is not yours;
- interfere with the platform's operation or security;
- use IATAS to advertise anything other than employment or engagement opportunities.
15.Intellectual property and scraping
The IATAS name, logo, interface, design, database structure and software are ours or our licensors'. You receive a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the platform for your own hiring while your account is active — nothing more.
Automated access, crawling, scraping and systematic copying are prohibited, whether by script, browser extension or manual process at scale. The engineer database is a substantial investment and we will enforce our rights in it.
16.Aggregated listings
Some roles displayed on IATAS are aggregated from external sources including Adzuna, JSearch, Greenhouse, Lever and SmartRecruiters, and are not posted by organisations on the platform. If you believe a listing shown on IATAS misrepresents your organisation, tell us and we will remove it.
17.Availability and changes
We aim to keep IATAS available but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and may carry out maintenance. Where a change materially reduces a paid feature you rely on, we will give reasonable notice.
18.Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, IATAS is provided "as is" and "as available". In particular we do not warrant that:
- any engineer holds the credentials they claim, beyond the limited checks in clause 10;
- any engineer is available, will respond, will accept an offer, or will complete an engagement;
- you will fill any role, or find any suitable candidate;
- profile information is accurate, current or complete — it is supplied by engineers;
- the platform will be error-free or continuously available.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
19.Limitation of liability
Subject to clause 18, and to the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for:
- any hiring decision you make, or decline to make;
- the conduct, competence, credentials or performance of any engineer;
- any airworthiness, safety, regulatory or operational consequence arising from work performed by someone you engaged through IATAS;
- loss of profit, business, goodwill, opportunity or anticipated savings;
- indirect or consequential loss of any kind.
Our total aggregate liability arising from or connected to the platform will not exceed the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or [CAP AMOUNT AND CURRENCY].
20.Indemnity
You will indemnify us against claims, losses, fines and reasonable costs arising from: your breach of these terms; your misuse of engineer data; any charge you levied on an engineer; any role you posted; any regulatory action relating to your hiring or verification practices; and any claim by an individual concerning your handling of their data under clause 9.
21.Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time. Closing it removes your organisation profile and unpublishes your open roles.
We may suspend or terminate access immediately, without refund, for breach of clause 7 (charging engineers), clause 8 (misuse of candidate data), or clause 15 (scraping). For other breaches we will normally give notice and an opportunity to put things right.
On termination you must delete any engineer data you hold that you no longer have a lawful basis to keep, and confirm you have done so if we ask.
22.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING JURISDICTION], and the courts of [CITY, JURISDICTION] have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may bring proceedings to protect our intellectual property or database rights in any competent court.
23.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version and effective date at the top will change, and we will give notice of material changes by email or in the platform before they take effect.
